Agrifood is coming in Lisbon on 11-12 October.

The AIS 2017 is a joint initiative of a Portuguese Consortium, the Portuguese Government, the EIP-AGRI network and the European Network for Rural Development. It will gather all the actors playing in agrifood sector: more than 500 farmers, rural businesses, start-ups, RDP managing authorities, national rural networks, researchers, advisors and NGOs throughout the EU.

AIS 2017 aims at:

  • Promoting cross fertilization between multi-actor innovation initiatives, both under Rural Development Programmes and Horizon 2020.
  • Raising awareness about innovation and digitisation opportunities for agriculture and rural economies and how these may be supported under on-going Rural Development Programmes.
  • Providing input for EU innovation policies for agriculture and rural areas after 2020, following-up on Point 7 of the Cork 2.0 Declaration.

The agenda plans tematic session on agrifood topic, such as Agriculture 4.0 and rural development, management of farming, food and forestry systems & valorization of the territory, resource use, precision farming.

Luís Capoulas Santous, Portuguese Minister for Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development, Carlos Moedas, Research, Science and Innovation Commisioner, and Phil Hogan, Agriculture and Rural Development Commisioner will be some of the main speakers.

Agricolus is one of the 10 selected startups showing their innovative solutions for the agricultural sector in the event. AIS 2017 participants get to vote and select the top 3 startups that will win the “European Agri Innovation Startup 2017” award.
