“A.D. 2015: Geographic Information System to support precision farming”
In 2015 we realized S.I.G. project 2015 thanks to several collaborations and experimentations (portfolio>)
Thanks to Misura 124 of PSR Umbria 2007-2013 “Cooperazione per lo sviluppo di nuovi prodotti, processi e tecnologie nei settori agricolo e alimentare e settore forestale”, an innovative workgroup (A.T.I.) was created. It was a cooperation between research and farms able to create a connection between production and research for agriculture.
The aim of the project was to collect data in order to create DSS application (Decision Support System) to manage crops. These collected data allow to create specific thematic maps showing homogeneus areas in the crops. Starting from this point, distribution maps of fertilizer are realized to suggest the way to manure differently depending on crop’s characteristics.
